WHITEROCK COTTAGE

The project began when our clients purchased this grade two listed building in Wadebridge. We were commissioned to design an extension/garden room which would make the most of the limited space available and maximise light and views to the picturesque garden behind the house.

The project looks and feels contemporary whilst attempting to complement and enhance the character of the original house. In order to achieve this a glazed link between the old and the new is made in order to both maximise light and distinguish the contemporary extension as a separate recognisable volume from the original. The Extension uses a clear rhythm of solid and void in its enclosure in order to provide privacy from neighbours when needed and at other points light and views when privacy is not at stake.
