The derelict ‘Top School’ building was inventively re-interpreted and extended to make a home for Boscastle Play Group.
The stone hall, in a Conservation Area, had its rear gable wall removed to invite in the morning sun and connect to a new extension.
An innovative Douglas Fit frame allows large areas of sliding glass that maximise light and provide ‘Free-flow’ play between interior and exterior. A canopied playground leads to a Growing Garden and Wild Wood. The building’s environmentally aware design maximises natural resources, employing a wealth of locally-sourced and recycled materials in its construction and requiring minimal running costs.
