X-SPORTS LAUNCESTON

The site is a derelict Tree plantation and nursery adjacent to Coronation Park. NCDC have recently ratified a new lease of this site to X-Sports to allow them to develop it according to this proposal.

The design strategies have been developed in close consultation with Launceston X-sports, a community group supporting local youth activities. The project has been supported through-out by Launceston Police as a crime-reducing initiative. Neighbours were invited to a presentation at which the scheme was discussed, and a neighbour survey was carried out at the early design stage. Neighbours’ comments have strongly influenced the design. The presentation drew support from the local community and from local councillors, confirming that the local community’s requirements have been successfully met.
